About this Chapter

This chapter is a quick introduction to the basics in Reason, laid out as a “guided tour”, describing the dif-

ferent areas and devices in the program.

! Before you proceed with the tutorials, you should have connected your equipment and

made settings for audio and MIDI as described in the previous chapters.

On the following pages you will find a brief introduction of the program. This helps you get familiar with the

different devices and their uses.

Guided Tour

The Rack

This is the virtual rack, the heart of Reason. At the top of the rack you will always find the Hardware Inter-

face, which allows Reason to communicate with the audio hardware. Below this, you can add as many dif-

ferent devices you want (or as many as your computer can handle). Read more about the different devices

below.
